Sir,

The following report concerns an unidentified individual believed to occupy the position of Grand Master within the clandestine organization commonly referred to in intercepted correspondence as “The Order of the Templars.”

This is currently the only photograph in our possession of the subject. Initial assessments by our services suggested that the position may have been occupied by Alfred Hugenberg. Recently acquired intelligence, however, appears to contradict this assumption, though our findings remain inconclusive at the present time.

It is not uncommon, within secret societies or occult organizations of this nature, for a Grand Master to employ intermediaries or symbolic representatives in order to conceal his identity while maintaining operational authority. Such practices are well documented among several nationalist and esoteric circles currently active within the German Reich.

The subject’s notably refined appearance, together with the surroundings visible in the photograph, strongly suggest an individual of considerable wealth and influence, likely descended from the German aristocracy or high Prussian nobility. The attire visible in the image appears to be of exceptional tailoring and consistent with the habits and traditions of conservative elite circles associated with former Imperial military families.

Particular attention has been drawn to the black eyepatch covering the subject’s left eye. Combined with an estimated age of approximately sixty years, this detail may indicate an injury sustained during the Great War. Our analysts therefore consider it probable that the individual served as an officer within the Imperial German Army between 1914 and 1918, potentially within the Prussian General Staff or associated aristocratic cavalry formations.

Several recovered documents and intercepted communications refer indirectly to a “Council of Nine,” believed to operate behind certain industrial, political, and nationalist networks presently supporting elements of the National Socialist regime. At this stage, no direct evidence links the subject personally to the German government, though the possibility of influence within senior nationalist circles cannot be excluded.

No formal identification has yet been established. Facial comparison against known aristocratic and military records remains ongoing in cooperation with SIS archives and allied intelligence services in Paris and Warsaw.

Further updates will be transmitted as additional evidence becomes available.

Respectfully submitted,

Captain Edward H. Markham
